Maui Wowi Hawaiian salutes the United States Coast Guard at the 88th Annual Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven, Michigan. Maui Wowi, a coffee and smoothie franchise company, returns for another year at the event, which started July 27, 2012 and continues through August 5, 2012. As a vendor for the event, Maui Wowi Hawaiian will serve its premium quality beverages to visitors who come from all over the country to take part in this American tradition.
“This event is a very big deal in Grand Haven. It’s more than a week long and brings the community and the country together to honor our heroes of the United States Coast Guard,” said Justin Livingston, Director of Global Franchise Development at Maui Wowi Hawaiian. “It’s the perfect opportunity for our Franchise Operator Patricia Dietz, to bring Maui Wowi products to thousands of people in a family friendly environment and celebrate a nationally recognized festival.”
The historic festival began in 1924 as a small picnic, open only to the Coast Guard personnel. Its mission is to recognize and show appreciation to the men and women of the United States Coast Guard and honor those who have sacrificed for their country. The festival has grown a great deal over the last 88 years and now draws over 350,000 people, including high ranking Coast Guard dignitaries, according to their website.
This is the third year of attending the event for Maui Wowi Franchise Operator, Patricia Dietz. She will be serving a variety of fresh fruit smoothie flavors, including Orchard Peach, Piña Colada, and Mango Orange, as well as hot Hawaiian coffee and frozen Mocha Chillin’, a blended coffee beverage. Her mobile Ka’anapali cart will be situated across from the waterfront.
The main event is the National Memorial Service to remember and honor those who have passed away in the last year in the line of duty, says the website. Other events at the festival include a car show, ship tours, parade, and a fireworks extravaganza.
Dietz says she is looking forward to the fireworks and that the best spot to watch them is right from her cart. “We have the best spot for fireworks. They close off the street and it just fills up with people. We are usually working nonstop for at least three hours; serving a whole lot of smoothies,” Dietz said.
Most of the activities are free to the public. To view the full list of events for dates and times visit http://www.coastguardfestival.org.
