PC Tan and Danny Lam Join FROOTS as Master Franchisees for Singapore

Davie, Florida (July 30, 2009) - FROOTS, a rapidly growing quick service food and smoothies franchise, has added PC Tan and Danny Lam as Master Franchisees to develop the brand in Singapore under their holding company, Tropical Juice Pte Ltd.

Business partners PC and Danny were looking for a food franchise with very specific qualifications. First it had to offer healthy food and then it needed to have a variety of offerings. "We looked at a number of companies but most offered only a single product, for example either smoothies or sandwiches," said PC. "FROOTS was a clear winner with their variety of options including smoothies, salads, wraps and paninis. Food from a FROOTS restaurant is not only healthy but it is a quality product that will attract a large number of diners."

The Republic of Singapore is an island city-state on the Malay Peninsula and is home to over 4.5 million people. A melting pot of cultures, Singapore has large Chinese, Malay, Indian and Arabic communities and it is a popular tourist destination. "Understanding what products will work in this area can be a complicated issue," said PC, "and FROOTS had the right mindset for Asia, being very open to local customization and to the price point required to succeed. This was another important differentiation between FROOTS and the other franchise businesses we looked at."

PC has a background in marketing and business development in the technology sector and is a very active investor. Danny has extensive experience in the retail sector, having co-founded a gift and lifestyle business. After spotting the opportunity to drive the healthy eating trend in Singapore, he partnered with PC and together they researched a number of businesses before choosing the FROOTS concept.

FROOTS, which was created by David Lopez, has been franchising since 2004. Menu offerings include a number of healthy food and beverage choices, making it a popular spot for anyone looking for quick service food that is flavorful, fresh and good for you.
