Free franchise offer by CEO

Marketers are a bit mad.

But if mad was actually an acronym that stood for Make A Difference, then Daniel Rechnitzer is the true personification of the term.

The Doonan-based CEO of ChildsPlay Marketing has announced that he will donate six of his franchises, each valued at more than $35,000, in a simple philanthropic gesture.

"There is so much hype about being in an economic crisis and my take is, we're not in an economic crisis, we're in a confidence crisis," the 32-year-old said.

"So every time someone talks about this situation we're in, we're all being responsible for perpetuating the fall in confidence.

"But we are also responsible for turning it around.

"We want to show people that despite doom and gloom, there are opportunities out there and you can pick up a $35,000 franchise for nothing.

"We were also hearing about highly talented people losing their jobs, so we thought, let's be the ones to play our role in turning it around and pay it forward."

The extraordinary giveaway means Mr Rechnitzer is out of pocket at least $210,000.

"One of the powerful underpinning philosophies of what we teach in marketing is that if you help others get what they want, you will get what you want," he said.

"By making this opportunity, we are putting our name out there to attract some quality people.

"We don't see it as losing $35,000 each time, but that we're gaining some really talented people that would otherwise go untapped, and they will be contributing to the business from here on out."

Mr Rechnitzer said he had received 250 entries from around Australia.

Applicants must write a 250-word submission (at www.childsplaymarketing.com.au) before June 30.

The six winning franchisees will be fully trained and mentored, and Mr Rechnitzer said they could be anyone from a student or a mum to a forced retiree or a retrenched worker.

"I am looking for someone who has an open mind, who is unstoppable in terms of will and drive to push their own limiting beliefs, and someone with some creativity - a free spirit.

"I am not necessarily looking for marketing experience. If they have the right attitude, they will beat any marketer."

Winners will be notified by July 15.

What an amazing thing to do for the business minded community. With all the lost jobs and less than favorable market conditions these days, Mr. Daniel Rechnitzer is a real stimulus.
