TWO Doncaster entrepreneurs are expanding their Chemex cleaning and hygiene products supply business, opening a new service centre in Hull, in addition to a regional office in Sheffield.
Former mining mechanical engineer John Heslop launched the franchise nine years ago, bringing mining colleague Keith Nutton as a partner as part of an expansion programme launched three years ago.

"Although times are hard for many businesses there are tremendous opportunities in Hull and East Yorkshire for our products," said Mr Heslop.

"Our business is about as recession proof as you can get as the service and products we provide are seen as necessities and not luxuries by our customers."

From its original base in Hatfield, Doncaster, Mr Heslop and Mr Nutton have built up a business with an annual turnover of £330,000 and operations in Melton, Hull and Eldon Street Sheffield.

The firm's growth has been fuelled by its willingness to provide additional services, including specialist advice, consultancy and training.

"We have found that customers don't want a supplier of cleaning products," said Mr Nutton.

"We have responded to this demand and provide a specialized service offering free on-site surveys as well as advice and training in health and hygiene control and we design a package to suit an individual company's needs."
